Protect Joy and Connection
A space can immediately make you feel better or worse.
Space also doesn't necessarily affect you in the same way as anyone else.
Our use of space says something very personal about who we are and how we interact with the world.
Families often struggle with neurodiversity and inclusion at home because not everyone in the household shares the same sensory experience OR has the same level of power / "say-so"
in everyday decisions.
This can lead to a lot of conflict all around.
Mindful By Design helps individuals, families, and organizations use research-backed tools to enhance their use of space to support emotional health and sensory
awareness.
The right tools can help any of us improve focus, build connection, foster inclusion, enhance productivity and protect any other important personal values. Emotional science helps
us take the cognitive load off by making better use of our space for any neurodiverse community - whether or not you also seek support with a specific mental health condition, such as PTSD, ASD, OCD,
or ADHD. We all thrive when mental health is supported most broadly.
Mindfulness is a practice in understanding and connection. Inclusive design is the first step.
Research - Backed Supports
Designing A Supportive Workplace
Emotional health requires both "top down" tools (skills and knowledge) as well as 'bottom up" supports (policies, social inclusion) to really thrive. Workplaces can support neurodiversity and emotional health by designing spaces that protect different sensory sensitivities and thinking styles. Research-backed tools can help you create an inclusive space that protects joy and connection while being flexible to individual differences.
Let your values about use of space guide the design process:
Commit to actions that make space for joy and connection.
